John was a dear friend to me. I first met him in Leeds in 1985 when he was working in a record shop then later that year we were on the same Graphic Design course. We stayed good friends all these years although I had not seen him during the pandemic but he still texted me regularly. It’s such a shock to discover he’s gone. John was a sweet, caring, good soul. We went to many gigs together over the years and I always felt I had a spiritual connection of some kind with him that is impossible to articulate.
